National AUCSO Conference

This is held every April at different locations throughout the UK. Conferences are usually held at member Universities, so there is an opportunity to visit another campus. Anyone considering hosting a conference should be able to provide en-suite accommodation and a reasonable standard of conference facilities, including a 'conference dinner'. Advice and Information

All AUCSO members are added to our email list, which gives instant communication to most members. This is a useful way of passing on new information about crime trends and University related security problems. It may also be used for general information that may be helpful or interesting to members, such as University security vacancies, training courses etc. The membership of the e-mail list and message archives are held on the 'Jiscmail' server and cannot be viewed by non-members. If you are a member but are not on our email list, please contact the AUCSO Secretary, David Owen. Please include your name, your office phone number, fax, 24 hour telephone number (if applicable) and email address.

Training & Development

The Association is particularly keen on arranging and promoting training & development for all University security staff, from basic induction for new staff to management degree level. Some Universities have developed their own security training courses, some of which are open to fellow AUCSO members. Commercial security organisations have also provided training for University security staff which some AUCSO members can provide details of. See our training page for more information.

International Links

The American based 'International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators' (IACLEA) includes an International Region which provides worldwide links for colleagues in campus security. Please click here here for more information.

In 1996 some of our European colleagues were invited to attend a UK conference and this gave start a year later, to the 'European Association of Campus Security' (EACS). EACS holds biennial conferences and provides an opportunity for AUCSO members to liaise with colleagues in European Universities. Some EACS members have now also joined AUCSO and we look forward to welcoming them to AUCSO conferences or events.
